Summer Reading Challenge 2022 June 6 – July 29

In Beanstack, you can view the available activities, enter your child’s reading progress, and more. Children will receive prizes as they progress and will be entered into drawings at the end of the summer. Click HERE to get more details on using Beanstack.

*Note: Paper form of the summer program can be provided for those that don’t wish to use the app. Visit the library’s front desk.

Activity Bags—ages 11 and younger (June 6—July 29) Pick-up a weekly activity bag for creative fun! Enter the code found on the activity bag label to complete a program reward! New bags available each Monday while supplies last.

Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt—ages teen and younger (June 6—July 29) Pick up a weekly scavenger hunt sheet at the library’s front desk and find everything listed around Waterloo! Once you’ve found all the items, fill out your first and last name on the scavenger hunt sheet and return it in the library’s outside book drop, or at the front desk. Youth Services Librarian, Mrs. Amanda, will then enter the activity for you to earn a program reward!

S.T.E.A.M. Fun—ages 11 and younger July 26 at 2:00pm Enjoy making LEGO creations, coding Ozobots, and more! Drop-in!

Wildlife in Need Center Live Animals—June 28 at 2:00pm

Take a look inside the Wildlife In Need Center and what it takes to do wildlife rehabilitation. Featuring a few native Wisconsin wildlife, this event is fun for all ages! Sponsored by the Bridges Library System

June 30 10:00am – 4:00pm

  • Participants will pick up their first puzzle piece/clue at the library
  • Clues will take participants to area businesses that will have another clue/puzzle piece for participants to collect. 
  • Once all the puzzle pieces are collected and the picture puzzle is completed, participants will then be able to enter their name in a prize drawing at the library. 
  • Participants have from 10:00am – 4:00pm on June 30 to collect all the puzzle pieces and submit into the prize drawing.

Big City Vehicles—July 6 at 2:00pm

Come see city vehicles close up and ask questions from the experts! Visit with friendly community employees from the Waterloo Public Works, Utilities, Police and Fire Department.

Multi-lingual Storytelling Troupe, Sadarri & Co.—July 19 at 2:00pm

Whatever floats your boat – a hilarious Caribbean trickster tale, a fun interactive song in Spanish, learning cool expressions in Sign Language, or an exciting African-inspired game! Sponsored by the Bridges Library System.

Summer Celebration—July 30 at 11:00am—1:00pm

Celebrate your summer reading accomplishments with snow cones, games, and more! Grand prize winners from all age categories will also be announced.
